How does D-Clear help in securing my communications?
Firstly it will be P2P communication. Secondly, the encryption inside this communication will be based on the end-to-end modern encryption algorithm. Finally, the user data will be stored in blockchain so it will be replicated on many nodes and the history of account changes will be immutable.
Does the D-Clear DI allow for use outside of the D-Clear network?
Yes, D-Clear DI will have cross platform use.
What is Elliptic Curve Encryption?
Elliptic-curve cryptography (ECC) is an approach to public-key cryptography based on the algebraic structure of elliptic curves over finite fields. ECC allows smaller keys compared to non-EC cryptography (based on plain Galois fields) to provide equivalent security.
Is Elliptic Curve Encryption considered Military Grade?
Short answer - yes. We were thinking about picking an algorithm for D-Clear that would be strong enough and could resist quantum computer brute force attacks, as well as other modern attacks. NSA allows the use of the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm for protecting information classified up to top secret with 384-bit keys. Military-Grade encryption uses a key size of 256 bits for top secret information
What is the type of blockchain used to enhance D-Clear's products?
Initially, we will use Hyperledger Fabric and its variants. If during our life cycle we see that using a custom version of another blockchain might be the best option (e.g. custom version of Ethereum) we will use another blockchain.
How does my Decentralized Identity get stored and on what device?
DI is going to be stored using blockchain distributed on Storage Nodes. Data will be encrypted with the help of a private user key. We plan that some nodes that will be responsible for data storage and will store the whole D-Clear blockchain.
What are the benefits of using blockchain for securing and storing my information?
You have no chance to lose your data. It will be replicated on many nodes. The full history of your account is available and nobody is able to tamper with it. So it will increase the security of the system. There is no central point that can be hacked and no history which can be modified. Blockchain has identity management and we can do authentification and user management without a central server. It would be secured and you can access it by any client over the Internet
What is a Bootstrap IPFS Node?
The bootstrap node is an IPFS node that other nodes can connect to in order to find other peers. It is one of the IPFS Nodes which has a public IP address. We used to do NAT circuit. Many NAT circuit technologies relay on the central server as a server to establish a connection. When the connection is established the server is no longer needed. We need these nodes to speed up the initial connection.
Will D-Clear use centralized servers within its platform?
No. Instead, the infrastructure will be highly decentralized, as there will be many nodes of each of the types: Bootstrap, Storage, Gateway, QoS / Billing. The architecture will be open so that 3-rd parties may run any type of nodes in the network. The mutual trust will be defined by the blockchain.
How do the D-Clear products make me compliant with global regulatory requirements for my industry?
The data will have the best possible encryption. We can provide a way to conduct an audit of our system (in case we need to have such an option). Political risks are outside of our proposal, as they certainly exist. However, the example of services such as Telegram, IPFS, proxy services that work even in China (ShadowSocks, for instance), show that everything is possible.
